Crisis, Adjustment and Social Change
- Project from: 1990 to 1995
This project was concerned with the study of long-term processes of social and institutional change associated with economic recession and restructuring in Africa and Latin America. It focused on the adaptive strategies of social groups and enterprises to changes in economic opportunities and their overall effects on economic, social and political structures within countries. By studying the complex changes in socio-economic organization and political relations created by coping strategies, the project sought to contribute to an understanding of the constraints that are likely to impinge upon future policy options in each region and country.
