Social Policy in Mineral-Rich Countries: Harnessing Natural Resource Wealth for Social Development
- Project from: 2012 to 2014
Although the connection between natural resources and growth has been widely studied, there is not much literature on how revenues from extractive industries can affect social development. This project seeks to fill this gap, arguing that these revenues can help fund development. It uses in-depth country case studies of mineral-rich countries in different regions to study the impact of mineral resources on economic development and fiscal capacity, politics and institutions, and social policy.
This project is being developed and funding is being sought. For further information, contact Katja Hujo at hujo@unrisd.org.
