  • Project Title: Policy Report on Gender and Development: 10 Years after Beijing

The Fourth World Conference on Women, held in Beijing in September 1995, was a high point in international efforts to advance women’s human rights in all dimensions. Ten years on, many actors around the world reflected on the achievements of the past decade.

For Beijing+10, UNRISD launched its research-based policy report, entitled Gender Equality: Striving for Justice in an Unequal World, during an official side event of the 49th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), in March 2005.

Participants included Urvashi Butalia, Anne Marie Goetz, Naila Kabeer, Thandika Mkandawire, Shahra Razavi and Ann Zammit.

UNRISD will be holding a series of international conferences in 2005-2006 to launch the report. To find out about these future events, we encourage you to subscribe to our free email alerts service.
