Towards a Global Politics of Love and Courage: Lessons from a Feminist Experiment in South Africa’s Decade of Democracy
From Pregs Govender's speech...
"In the context of a global politics of hate and fear that has devastated the lives of many people, with women and girls being affected in specific ways, I believe it is critical to identify and assert the alternative power and politics we are working with.
What is it that underpins the excellent strategies which are engaged in across our world, many of which are in the UNRISD Report: Gender Equality: Striving for Justice in an Unequal World. What is the power that we are working with? I have named this alternative the 'politics and power of love and courage’. I am not asserting a new power – this power has been asserted and tested in struggle by many people across our globe."
