UNRISD Director in Nationally Televised Debate in Seoul

UNRISD Director Sarah Cook took part in the Seoul Development Debate to be aired on KBS 1 television channel on 9 November from 0.20 to 2.00 a.m. Korean Standard Time (on 8 November from 4.20 to 6.00 p.m. Central Europe Time).

Chaired by Huck-ju Kwon of the Seoul National University, the debate was part of the Development Forum for the G20. Discussions focused on social protection and economic development, development assistance, the Republic of Korea as a model for development and the usefulness of G20 as a global framework.

Other speakers included Thandika Mkandawire, Chair in African Development at the London School of Economics (LSE) and former UNRISD Director; Manuel Riesco of the Center for National Studies of Alternative Development (CENDA); Asep Suryahadi of the SMERU Research Institute; Sun-ju Kang of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security; and Eun Mee Kim of the Ewha Woman's University.
