UNRISD Research Coordinator participates in UNDESA Expert Group Meeting on Social Integration in New York, USA.

UNRISD Research Coordinator, Ilcheong Yi, participated in an Expert Group Meeting on Social Integration 2 - 4 November 2009 in New York, USA.

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) organized the Expert Group Meeting on the theme of Social Integration, taking into account its relationship with poverty eradication and full employment and decent work for all, as part of the preparations for the forty-eighth session of the Commission for Social Development.

Ilcheong presented a paper on Universalism and Targeting Approach focusing on comparative advantages of universal approach in social welfare provision from the perspective of social integration.

The event was part of the preparations for the 48th session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD), which is scheduled to take place in New York from 3 to 12 February 2010. Inputs given by Ilcheong and other participants of the Expert Group Meeting will be formulated in the form of recommendation and circulated at the New York next year.
