UNRISD is currently accepting applications for three internships working on different areas within the organization. Two of the internships are research based – one working within the programme on Identities, Conflict and Cohesion and the second working on the Poverty Reduction and Policy Regimes project. The non-research based internship will involve working within the Publications and Dissemination Unit, mostly within the UNRISD Press Office.
For the position of intern within the programme on Identities, Conflict and Cohesion, the candidate will be a member of a team dealing with issues relating to ethnic relations, social equity, and public policies. Preference will be given to postgraduate students currently enrolled in universities in Geneva. The closing date for this internship is 20 May 2008.
The internship position based within the Publications and Dissemination Unit will involve working full time under the supervision of the Associate Information Officer. The Intern will, amongst other tasks, assist with the day-to-day updating and maintenance of the UNRISD Web site and work on strengthening the Institute’s global research communication strategy by supporting media outreach (national, regional and international media; specialist media; and United Nations–specific internal and external media). The closing date for this internship is 23 May 2008.
The individual chosen as the intern for the Poverty Reduction and Policy Regimes project will be studying the causes, dimensions and dynamics of poverty. The project adopts a policy regime approach to examine the ways poverty outcomes are shaped by the configuration of institutions and policies in a triad of economic development, social policy and politics. The project has two components: the first involves research work of a comparative nature on policy regimes and poverty reduction in 16 countries; and the second part of the project involves work related to the preparation of an UNRISD Flagship Report on Poverty to be published in 2009. The closing date for this internship is 28 May 2008.
