World Investment Report 2008: TNCs, FDI and Infrastructure

UNRISD Deputy Director, Peter Utting, took part in a brainstorming meeting organized by the UNCTAD Division on Investment, Technology and Enterprise Development that brought together a group of experts to discuss issues pertinent to UNCTAD's forthcoming World Investment Report 2008: Transnational Corporations (TNCs) , Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Infrastructure.

The meeting took place September 19-20, 2007, at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland and one of its primary considerations was the role that TNCs/FDI in Infrastructure play in furthering development. The discussions focused on trends in the relevant areas, conceptual and definitional issues surrounding TNCs and infrastructure,the impact of the phenomenon on development, and implications for policy.
