UNRISD Director Sarah Cook and Research Coordinator Shahra Razavi will present the 2010 Flagship Report,
Combating Poverty and Inequality at a meeting organized by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) on 25
November in Oslo, Norway at 1.00 p.m. in the Infosenter of NORAD Headquarters.
Cook will also present the report during the “Silent Crises, Politics, Mobilization and Development Research” panel at the Rethinking Crises: Vulnerability, Community and State in Development Research conference on 26 November at the MF Norwegian School of Theology in Oslo at 10.30 a.m.
Participants in Silent Crises session include Magdalena Sepúlveda Carmona, United Nations Independent Expert on Human Rights and Extreme Poverty; Ingrid Fiskaa, State Secretary for Environment and International Development in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Atle Sommerfeldt, General Secretary at Norwegian Church Aid in Oslo.
Organized by the Norwegian Association for Development Research (NFU), the Rethinking Crises conference will focus on how researchers study state and community responses to crises. Panels will examine the correlation between community resilience and civil organizations' role in building resilience; state capacity and political settlement in peace building and post-conflict situations; and crisis preparation.
