UNRISD Research Coordinator Yusuf Bangura will present “Democratic Politics and Poverty Eradication: Implications for Nigeria’s Pro-Democracy Movement” at the Nigerian Civil Society Experiences conference on 25 November at 4.00 p.m. in Kano, Nigeria. The Mambayya House of the Centre for Democratic Research and Training (CDRT) will be hosting the conference.
Bangura’s talk will take place during the “Cross Cutting Issues in the Struggle for Democracy” panel. Other panel participants include Dr Raufu Mustapha of the University of Oxford, UK and UNRISD Research Collaborator.
This fourth and final round of the Nigerian Civil Society Experiences is organized by the Center for Research and Document (CRD). Discussions will focus on the democratic development in Nigeria, and its impact on national gender, identity, unity and media debates.
Bangura will also present the UNRISD 2010 Flagship Report,
Combating Poverty and Inequality: Structural Change, Social Policy and Politics on 26 November at 10.00 a.m. in the Mambayya House in Kano.
Discussants to Bangura’s presentation include Yakubu Aliyu, President of the Community Action for Popular Participation (CAPP); Malam Ibrnhaim Muazzam of the Bayero University, Kano; and Dr. Ismaila Zango, Acting Director of the CRD.
