UNRISD Research Coordinator Participates in Conference on Gender Politics in International Governance in Geneva

7 Oct 2010

UNRISD Research Coordinator Shahra Razavi is participating in the Gender Politics in International Governance conference held at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (GIIDS) of Geneva, from 6 to 8 October.

As a part of the Economic Governance panel, Razavi will present her “Governing the Economy for Gender Equality? Challenges of Regulation” paper on 7 October between 11am and 12:45pm.

Participants from Women’s Environment and Development Organization, Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, Boston Consortium on Gender, Security, and Human Rights, UNIFEM, Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces, along with researchers and academics from Germany, Switzerland, Canada, UK, USA, Australia, and Belgium, will serve as panelists.

The conference is co-organized by members of the Humboldt University of Berlin, the State University of New York and the GIIDS, and is timely in light of the recent creation of UN Women (the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women). Discussions will cover existing international gender equality policies and their implications in the economic, security and humanitarian domains.
