UNRISD Director Presents Poverty Report at Social Protection and Development Policy in Asia Conference in Bangkok

UNRISD Director Sarah Cook is presenting the 2010 Flagship Report, Combating Poverty and Inequality: Structural Change, Social Policy and Politics during the Social Protection and Development Policy in Asia: The Long Term Perspective conference in Bangkok, Thailand on 27 October at 3.30 p.m. in Conference Room 3 of the United Nations Conference Centre.

The conference is co-organized by United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), Social Protection in Asia (SPA) and UNRISD. Discussions will concentrate on issues such as current and future social protection schemes in Asia, public employment programmes, migrations and disaster relief, extreme poverty, residential security and health.

Cook will also participate in a panel session on "Social Protection in Asia: The Way Forward" on 27 October at 3.30 p.m. Speakers in that session include Naila Kabeer of SPA and Nanda Krairiksh of ESCAP.
