Hironobu Sano

Former Collaborating Researcher

Hironobu Sano collaborated with UNRISD on the project Social Dimensions of Green Economy and Sustainable Development (2011-2012). For the project he spoke at the UNRISD conference on the issue held in October 2011 and authored the paper "Governance in the Brazilian Environmental Policy: The Distance from Institutional Design to Effective Participation" in Development (Volume 55, Number 1).
At the time of his collaboration with UNRISD, he was Professor of Public Management and Public Policy at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. His research focuses on intergovernmental relations in federative systems, and the implications for the formulation and implementation of public policies. He is the author of "Federalism and Intergovernmental Collaboration: The Council of State Secretaries in Brazil".
