Manuel Mejido Costoya

Former Visiting Fellow

Between 2006 and 2011, Manuel Mejido Costoya contributed to UNRISD’s research on the role of non-state actors in fostering inclusive development and smart growth across the Global South, initially, as a consultant for the programme on Civil Society and Social Movements, and then as a research fellow in the Markets, Business and Regulation programme.

During these years he was also an adjunct professor at the Department of Sociology of the University of Geneva, teaching courses on the
geopolitics of knowledge and economic sociology.

Mejido Costoya went on to serve as a Social Affairs Officer at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, where he coordinated a number of initiatives to enhance social protection in the region, including the design and roll out of the
Social Protection Toolbox.

In 2020, he returned to Switzerland as an
associate researcher at the University of Geneva’s Institute of Sociological Research.
