Emmanuel Giymah-Boadi

Former Collaborating Researcher

Emmanuel Gyimah-Boadi collaborated with UNRISD for the project Ethnic Structure, Inequality and Governance of the Public Sector, from 2002 to 2005.

At the time of his collaboration with UNRISD, he was a Professor in the Department of Political Science, University of Ghana, and Executive Director of the Center for Democracy and Development, a think- tank for research on good governance and democratic development in Ghana and in the West Africa region.

His publications include “Associational Life, Civil Society and Democratization in Ghana” in John Harbeson, Donald Rothchild and Naomi Chazan eds., Civil Society and the State in Africa (1994); “Civil Society in Africa” in Journal of Democracy (1996); and “Ghana: The Challenges of Consolidating Democracy” in Richard Joseph ed. State, Conflict and Democracy in Africa (1999).
