Armando Barrientos

Former Collaborating Researcher

Armando Barrientos collaborated with UNRISD for the flagship report Combating Poverty and Inequality (2009-2010) and for the research project Ageing, Development and Social Protection, for which Barrientos authored a Programme Paper Social Protection and Poverty (2010). At the time of his collaboration, he was a lecturer in Public Economics and Development at the Institute for Development Policy and Management at the University of Manchester and a joint convenor of the Ageing and Development Study Group of the Development Studies Association in the UK. His research focuses on welfare and social protection, and he has published a number of papers on pension and health reforms in Latin America, and on the well-being and vulnerability of older workers and their households.
