Susie Baird

Former Collaborating Researcher

Susie Baird collaborated with UNRISD for the project Politics and Political Economy of HIV/AIDS 2003-2005 and wrote a draft paper. At the time of her collaboration with UNRISD, Baird was an economist and involved in capacity development initiatives for poverty alleviation and good governance. She holds postgraduate qualifications in project planning and management.
Her experience with local governance administration and district development planning programmes lends support to her vision of women’s sustainable human development arising from grassroots initiatives and women's participation in local and national governance institutions.

Due to her work on HIV and AIDS in Zimbabwe, she is seen as one of Zimbabwe’s young activists for socioeconomic human rights from a gender perspective.
