Pon Souvannaseng
Former Collaborating Researcher
Pon Souvannaseng collaborated with UNRISD on the project Towards Universal Social Security in Emerging Economies: Processes, Institutions and Actors. Before that, she worked at UNRISD as a Research Analyst in 2008-2010. She worked with Yusuf Bangura on the Democracy, Governance, and Well-being Programme and as an assistant coordinator for the UNRISD Flagship Report 2010 Combating Poverty and Inequality. Most recently, she joined the research team for the project Universalization of Social Security in Emerging Economies.
Souvannaseng has previously spent time in Singapore and Thailand, as well as Bosnia-Herzegovina and Bulgaria, examining regional security and development issues across Southeast Asia and Europe. She has served as a project officer for the International Institute for Strategic Studies and as a labor researcher for the ASEAN Secretariat.
Her research interests included the political economy of uneven development, Asian development politics, the global trade in agriculture and environmental resource management issues, social theory, and democracy in development decision-making.
At the time of her most recent collaboration, she was studying for a PhD at the London School of Economics. She holds an MSc in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics and a BA in Political Science from Tufts University.
