Tharcisio Leone joined UNRISD in July 2018 as a Visiting Research Fellow in the Social Policy and Development programme. He is currently a PhD candidate in Economics at the Free University of Berlin (Germany), and his field of research is intergenerational education mobility in developing countries.
Tharcisio has a Master’s degree in Public Economics from the FU-Berlin (2016), and Bachelor’s degrees in Economics (University of Hanover, Germany) and Foreign Trade (UNIVEM, Brazil). In the course of this research, he has been a visiting researcher at the University of São Paulo (Brazil) and University of Pretoria (South Africa), and completed internships in the area of inequalities and sustainable development at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and at the Permanent Mission of Brazil to the United Nations in New York.
