Ben Fine

Former Collaborating Researcher

Ben Fine has worked with UNRISD on a number of occasions. Most recently, he joined the research team for the project Towards Universal Social Security in Emerging Economies.
Fine previously presented a paper at the UNRISD conference on the Social and Political Dimensions of the Global Crisis (2009) and contributed a chapter, “Social Policy and Development: Social Capital as Point of Departure” in an UNRISD edited volume published in 2005.

At the time of his most recent collaboration, Ben Fine was a professor of Economics at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), United Kingdom. He is a former Director of the Centre for Economic Policy for Southern Africa and has a PhD in Economics from the University of London. He has previously held positions at Birkbeck College, University of London, Nuffield College, Oxford, and the American University, Washington.
