Viroj Tangcharoensathien
Former Collaborating Researcher
Viroj Tangcharoensathien carried out research for the UNRISD project Social Policy in Late Industrializers: Transforming the Developmental Welfare State in East Asia (2002-2004) in co-operation with Waranya Teokul and Lalita Chanvongpaisarn. Using the case of Thailand’s health policy, Tangcharoensathien and his colleagues sought to identify whether the Thai social system has moved toward a developmental and socially inclusive welfare state.
In 2012, Tangcharoensathien joined the research team for the Universalization of Social Security Emerging Economies project (2012- 2013). He has a medical degree from the Mahidol University, Thailand and a PhD from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
