Susan Steinman

Collaborating Researcher

Susan Steinman has been a Collaborating Researcher at UNRISD. In 2020 she was commissioned to author a case study as part of the research project Promoting SSE through Public Policies: Guidelines for Local Governments. At the moment of her collaboration with UNRISD, Susan Steinman was a Research Associate at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) at the University of Pretoria, Johannesburg. She has served as advisor for students, social enterprises, and government departments. She did extensive training in all aspects of entrepreneurship in the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) in South Africa and as the founding Director (2010) of the Centre for Social Entrepreneurship and Social Economy at the University of Johannesburg. She has published papers, authored several research reports on SSE (mostly commissioned by large international agencies and corporate clients) and presented at conferences locally and internationally on the topic.
