Philip McMichael
Former Collaborating Researcher
Philip McMichael collaborated with UNRISD on the flagship report Combating Poverty and Inequality (2010) for which he wrote a background thematic paper, Global Food Crisis: Causes and Prospects for Policy Alternatives. At the time of this collaboration, McMichael was International Professor at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Cornell University, United States.
His research interests include community development, development sociology, ecology, international agriculture and sustainable development. His University research programme follows world political-economic history, focusing on food and agricultural systems, and developing alternative comparative-historical methods.
