Martha Nussbaum

Former Collaborating Researcher

Martha Nussbaum collaborated with UNRISD for the projects Ageing, Development and Social Protection, 2001-2003, and Gender Justice, Development and Rights, 2000-2002. At the time of her collaboration, she was Ernst Freund Distinguished Service Professor of Law and Ethics at the University of Chicago, USA, with appointments in the Law School, the Philosophy Department, and the Center for Gender Studies.
Her publications include Cultivating Humanity: A Classical Defence of Reform in Liberal Education (1997), Sex and Social Justice (1999), and Women and Human Development: The Capabilities Approach (2000).
