Javier Corrales

Former Collaborating Researcher

Javier Corrales collaborated with UNRISD for the project Technocratic Policy Making and Democratization, 2000-2003. For the project, he published, in 2004, a paper Technocratic Policy Making and Parliamentary Accountability in Argentina, 1983–2002.
At the time of his collaboration, he was Associate Professor of Political Science at Amherst College, Amherst, Massachusetts, United States. He obtained his PhD in political science in 1996 from Harvard University, where he specialized in comparative and international politics of Latin America.

His areas of interest include the politics of economic policy reform in developing countries. He is the author of Presidents Without Parties: The Politics of Economic Reform in Argentina and Venezuela in the 1990s (Penn State University Press, University Park, 2002).
