Solon L. Barraclough was Director of UNRISD from 1977 until his retirement in 1984. After he retired, he continued to engage with UNRISD as Senior Consultant until his death in December 2002.
Solon was an expert on peasants, land reform and rural development. He was the author of numerous books on the agrarian question, including
