Tapio S. Katko

Former Collaborating Researcher

Tapio S. Katko collaborated with UNRISD for the project Commercialization, Privatization and Universal Access to Water, 2003-2004, for which he co-authored a draft paper Water Services in Finland: Competition for Non-Core Operations - Not for Monopolies.
At the time of this collaboration, Katko was a docent and Senior Research Fellow at the Tampere University of Technology (TUT) in Finland. He has 25 years of practical, teaching, and research experience.

Previously he worked in Eastern and Central Africa. Dr. Katko’s research deals with institutional and management issues of water and sanitation services, and particularly long-term development and strategies covering the past, present and future.
