Aida Lizbeth Becerra Garza
Former Intern (Research)
Liz joined UNRISD as Research Intern in June 2017. She assists Senior Research Coordinator Ilcheong Yi and Research Analyst Kelly Stetter with the project “New Directions in Social Policy: Alternatives from and for the Global South” and with new project development.
Liz is passionate about public policies for social development, drawing from her expertise in education, migration and inequality. She is currently a Master candidate in Development Studies at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, specializing in human and social development. For her master dissertation, she is conducting research on inclusive education for transnational children and youth.
Prior to arriving in Geneva, she worked for the Mexican Ministry of Public Education, where she was responsible for social audits of a national-level scholarship programme.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (Mexico City Campus), where she graduated first in her class. During her Bachelor’s, she spent a semester abroad at Sciences Po Paris and a summer at MGIMO University in Moscow. She has previously interned at the Mexican Delegation to the OECD in Paris.
