Alexandra Efthymiades
Former Research Assistant
Alexandra Efthymiades worked as a research assistant at UNRISD, leaving in February 2006. Her areas of interest were gender and development, particularly related to the Latin American context. She has a B.A. in Women’s Studies and Psychology from Barnard College, New York, an M.A. in Psychology from Columbia University, and an M.Sc. in Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Prior to joining UNRISD in 2005, Alexandra worked at the Centro de Derechos de Mujeres, a women’s rights NGO in Honduras. Her other experiences included working for the American Red Cross in New York and interning at Médecins sans frontières in New York as well as the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London. Her M.Sc.dissertation at the University of London critically examined Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers and their impacts upon Honduran women.
