Darryl Reed collaborated with UNRISD on the project Non-State Business Regulation for Social Development (2005 to 2009). He co-edited the book
Business Regulation and Non-State Actors: Whose Standards? Whose Development (2012)
with Peter Utting and Ananya Mukherjee-Reed and authored the chapters “Development and the Problematic of Non-State Regulation,” “Fairtrade International (FLO)”. He also co-authored the chapter “From Non-State Regulation to Governance? Shifting the Site of Contestation” in this volume.
At an UNRISD workshop in 2006, Reed presented a co-authored paper “Corporate Social Responsibility, Public-Private Partnerships and Human Development: Towards a New Agenda (and Beyond)”.
At the time of his collaboration with UNRISD, Darryl Reed was Associate Professor in the Division of Social Science and teaching in the Business & Society Program at York University, Canada. He has a PhD in Ethics and Political Economy and another in Public Policy. His areas of expertise are business ethics, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and business & development.
