Kléber Ghimire was a Research Co-ordinator at the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) from 1990 to 2007. He led the Institute's programme on Civil Society and Social Movements, particularly implying co-ordination of thematic and country studies under the following projects: Social and Policy Responses to North-South Inequality; The UN World Summits and Civil Society Engagement and Global Civil Society Movements: Dynamics in International Campaigns and National Implementation. Throughout the 1990s, he coordinated research on the socio-political dimensions of the environment and sustainable development.
