Tonia Warnecke

Former Collaborating Researcher

Tonia Warnecke collaborated with UNRISD for the project Potential and Limits of Social and Solidarity Economy (2012-2013). For the project she wrote a think piece, entitled "Can Female Entrepreneurship Programmes Support Social and Solidarity Economy? Insights from China and India".
Tonia is an economist in the Department of International Business of Rollins College, USA. She specializes in gender and development issues, including labor, finance, and social policy, and has published widely in international journals.

Warnecke was awarded the Young Scholars Award by the European Society for the History of Economic Thought in 2009, and in 2012 received a best paper award at the International Symposium for Entrepreneurship and Innovation for her research on female entrepreneurship. Her Handbook of Research on Gender and Economic Life, coedited with Deborah Figart, will be published in 2013 by Edward Elgar. This volume includes 33 chapters of original research on a myriad of topics related to gender and economic life in developed and developing countries.
