On 1-2 March 2007, United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) held its first workshop on Financing Social Policy. Experts from a variety of academic and thematic backgrounds examined the developmental impact associated with specific financing mechanisms and revenue sources, including taxation, social insurance, social and pension funds, mineral rents, remittances, and aid in terms of their potential for contributing to sustainable social policies in developing countries. The event took place in Room IX at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
