Eighth EMES International Research Conference on Social Enterprise

This Conference brings together research communities from all over the world studying different aspects of the third sector through a variety of theoretical lenses and perspectives. It aims to be a meeting place for scholars worldwide involved in social enterprise, social and solidarity economy, social entrepreneurship and social innovation research across the globe, and also includes a Transdisciplinary Forum for exchange and dialogue with non-academic local and international stakeholders.

Opportunities and challenges of statistics on SSE

The UN Inter-Agency Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE) is proud to announce the publication of three research papers on SSE statistics which respond to the lack of statistical information about the weight, size and scope of SSE organizations and enterprises which often prevents policy makers from establishing sustainable and inclusive policies for the development of SSE. The panel will help all stakeholders deepen their understanding of statistical methodologies on SSE and provide policy makers with new insights to establish and improve SSE statistical systems.


Promoting SSE through Public Policies: Three Case Studies and Guidelines for Local Governments

Speakers at this panel will present three of the city case studies produced for the UNRISD project Promoting SSE through Public Policies: Guidelines for Local Governments. This panel aims to contribute to deepening the understanding of process and substance of policies and institutions for SSE at local and national levels. The papers presented will address how governments can create enabling policy and institutional environments or “ecosystems” for SSE, including aspects related to multi-level governance. The panel also briefly introduces the Guidelines for Local Governments on Policies for Social and Solidarity Economy which were developed on the basis of these three presented papers, together with four further case studies.
