Financing Just Transitions
Fourth Webinar in the Just Transition Research Collaborative Webinar Series Justice in Low-Carbon Transitions

📅 Tuesday 10 November, 10.00-11.15 CET

Can finance for transitions to a low-carbon world be a tool for justice? In this fourth session of our JTRC webinar series, we will look at how different funding mechanisms operate, what criteria are being used to select projects and allocate funds, and what tensions can arise between different stakeholders. Presentations will draw on specific examples from Australia (closure of a power station) and Europe (the EU Just Transition Fund) and then discuss how the Green Climate Fund (the largest multilateral climate fund) can more effectively channel just transition funding to developing countries. The discussion will show how climate finance can be used to advance social justice and identify key entry points in financing debates to make sure that low-carbon transitions are just transitions.
