Over half the migrants from the South move to countries in the South, a fact neglected by research, which tends to focus on South-North migration. This project focuses on the role and challenges for social policy and poverty reduction strategies in contexts of South-South migration. It explores how migration and related policies affect social development, poverty, migrants’ social rights and well-being.
It looks particularly at the role of regions, and multiple actors such as governments, regional and international organizations and civil society, in the governance of migration between developing countries.
This is the second phase of
Social Policy and Migration in Developing Countries, which took place from 2007-2010.
