Measurement and Analysis of Progress at the Local Level
Volume I: An Overview
Volume II: Country Case Studies in Ghana, India and Poland (Jette Bukh et al.)
Volume III: Country Case Studies in Argentina, Iran, Mexico, Nigeria and Papua New Guinea (Raymond Apthorpe et al., published in 1979)
These volumes were the product of a project exploring a new approach to the collection and analysis of information on socioeconomic progress in developing countries. The prevailing macro approach tended to operate in terms of national abstractions, remote from local reality. These publications report on a new methodology which allowed distributional data that take into account local needs and aspirations to be obtained, analyzed and reported to central and local planning and policy organs.
